Extension is the development of new clubs within the district. The district extension chairman position is a three-year term.
· Serve as a member of the District MERL Team.
· Become familiar with ‘‘Guide to New Club Formation’’ (TK-1), a pamphlet describing how to form a new Lions club.
· Develop an extension program.
· Know the geographical layout of your district.
· Review communities for potential new clubs.
· Select areas of concentration and plan the organization of Lions clubs in those areas.
· Promote extension at zone and cabinet meetings.
· Contact possible sponsoring clubs for assistance.
· Cooperate with multiple district membership chairman.
· Report your progress at the district governor’s cabinet meeting.
· Arrange meetings of key personnel in the communities to develop new clubs.
· Locate the Lion who knows a key man in the new area.
· Inform Lions of their opportunity to start a new club.
